The Beneficiary

Windhaven Veterans Program

Every dollar raised by the Windhaven Ride for Veterans directly funds this life-changing equine-assisted therapy program operated by Lifeline Connections.

What Is Equine Therapy?

The Windhaven Veterans Program provides equine-assisted therapy specifically designed for U.S. military veterans living with PTSD and other mental health conditions. This is not traditional talk therapy.

Veterans work alongside horses — animals that are naturally hyper-vigilant — and learn real-time strategies to regulate their own stress response. No requirement to relive trauma.

Sessions involve licensed clinicians*, trained horses, and small group settings of 2-4 veterans*. The program runs 90 minutes weekly* for eight consecutive weeks*.

Reported Benefits

  • Reduction in anxiety and detachment
  • Decrease in pain and irritability
  • Increase in energy and confidence
  • Improved emotional regulation
  • Enhanced communication skills
  • Sense of community and safety

Why Horses?

Horses are naturally hyper-vigilant animals with heightened awareness and natural responses to human energy. They act as mirrors for participants' internal states, helping veterans recognize and manage their own stress responses in real-time.

Why It Matters

Traditional PTSD treatment sees dropout rates of 40-68%*. Many veterans avoid therapy because they don't want to relive trauma. The Windhaven program offers an effective alternative with an 81% completion rate*.

100% of Rider Donations Fund This Program

The Windhaven Ride for Veterans uses a unique dual-campaign funding model. Sponsors cover all event costs first, so 100% of rider registrations go directly to the Windhaven Veterans Program. Zero off the top.

01. Brand Strategy

Brand Story

The Challenge

Every day, 17.6 veterans die by suicide. More than 10 never sought help — not because they didn't need it, but because traditional treatment failed them. On average, 40% of veterans drop out of traditional PTSD treatment, with some rates hitting 68%.

The Transformation

In the mountains of Yacolt, Washington, the Windhaven Veterans Program offers a safe, effective alternative. By partnering with horses — animals that are naturally hyper-vigilant — veterans find a kindred spirit and learn real-time strategies to regulate their own stress. The result: an 81% program completion rate.

The Resolution

The Windhaven Ride for Veterans exists to fund this lifeline. Every rider who registers, every sponsor who steps up, every community member who shows up — they are the reason this program stays free and accessible. This isn't just a ride. It's a mission with a throttle.
